Visitors arriving by train via Chemnitz–Bärenstein line: Scharfenstein has its own station, and it is a 10-minute walk from there to the castle.

Braunsdorf / Lichtenwalde City-Bahn (city rail) station (Line 516 Chemnitz–Hainichen) with connections to Line 510 (Dresden–Hof) at Niederwiesa.
