|
The first part of the exhibition shows city carriages and coaches as well as sleighs from the 19th and 20th century. Famous carriage types, such as Landau, Break, Vis-á-Vis and Park Drags vividly document the high times of carriage manufacturing at the turn of the century.
Highlights of the exhibition are the state coaches, the gala carriages and the city carriages of the former royal Saxon stables from the 18th and 19th century. The historical development of the carriage is documented by contemporary pictures and texts. Further reading: |

The permanently displayed exhibition of hunting birds and mamals of this museum goes back to the original function of Schloss Augustusburg as a hunting lodge. The great attraction of this museum lies in the presentation of the 120 or so species in diorama cases in which the animals' natural habitats are reconstructed. Much effort is also made to portray the animals' habits through pictures, graphics and sound. |

|
At the centre of the exhibition, and only recently opened to the public, is the Venussaal [Venus Room] with its illusionist murals by Heinrich Göding. The portrayal of a "Venus Mountain" as one single picture covering the entire room is unique in mural painting of the 16th century in German-speaking areas.
In the neighbouring rooms, the historical role of the Schloss, how it was furnished in the era of Kurfürst [Elector] August of Saxony and its use as hunting lodge are explained through artistically valuable hunting weapons from the Dresden state art collections. In another section of the exhibition, the Schloss Augustusburg weaponry collection gives an insight into the development and technology of hunting weapons from the 17th to the 20th century. |

For over 10 years, the observation tower of the Lindenhaus has been home to a gallery. From March to November, there are temporary exhibitions in the highest exhibition room in the Schloss. The gallery takes its tone from the large number of works by contemporary artists.
