The renaissance Schloss Augustusburg offers a wide range of interesting museums: Motorbike Museum the most extensive collection of two-wheeled vehicles in Europe; includes many unique exhibits and the most extensive DKW (former manufacturer of automobiles and motorbikes in Zschopau) and MZ (motorbike factory Zschopau) exhibition in the world. Other facilities in the castle

Visitors' Centre

Bookings for group tours, events and courses and the purchase of vouchers amongst other things can be made at the visitors' centre. The office also organises the viewing of the wedding rooms and takes bookings for organ concerts or "Wasserprobe" ["trial by water"] as part of the wedding.

Special Tours

The daily tours of the Schloss relate interesting events in the castle's history and take the visitor to parts of the Lindenhaus, to the castle chapel with a famous altar hanging by Lucas Cranach the younger and to the pump house. (Length: c. 50 minutes) The following special tours are also available: (for times and dates see German calendar of events) All tours are currently only available in German.

Sunday Tours
After an introduction to the history of the castle and in particular the history of its construction at the scale model of the castle, the visitors is then taken to the former ball room (otherwise not open to the public) on the second floor. From the balcony and trumpeters' seats there is an impressive view. The visitor discovers the significance of the "fox hole", can take a look into the well and admire the special thatched roof (Length c. 2 hours) "On the trail of Lotter"
evening tour similar to the Sunday tour, but with a rustic snack in an unexpected place and a visit to the pump house with a taste of the "water of the well". (Length c. 3 hours) "On the road with Prince Lieschen"
5 to 10 year-olds (without their parents) can take a stroll through the castle's history on the trail of the weaver's daughter Sabina Apitzsch, who appeared at the court as the "false Kurprinz" at the time of August the Strong, before being imprisoned in Schloss Augustusburg. (Length c. 1.5 - 2 hours) Castle tours and special tours for groups are also possible outwith the opening hours - ask at the visitors' centre.
