During the Anti-Napoleonic Wars of Liberation (1813-1815), a military hospital was set up at the palace.
1831
The palace is bought by the state. Living accommodation and offices as well as the district administration authorities, financial administration authorities and the local court are established at the palace.

The well house burnt down.
1882
Municipal water pipes are constructed and the palace is connected to the water supply system. The well loses its significance.
1925
A museum dedicated to the Erzgebirge region is established in the Hasensaal ("Hare Room") and the Fürstensaal ("Princes' Room").
1933
A Gau leader school is established and the palace is handed over to the Gau administration as Nazi leader school on 24 June 1933 at 5.00 pm. The youth hostel and the museum have to be closed.
1933 Sommer
Summer: 120 persons are arrested and are forced to work in the area of the palace.
1938
The palace becomes a refugee camp.
7 May 1945
Invasion of the Red Army: The main leader (= head of the Gau leader school) has explosive devices fixed in the area of the palace before he makes his escape.
7 May 1945
Tanks of the Red Army head towards Augustusburg. The Fascists dash out of the palace which has been used as Nazi Gau leader school since 1933. The anti-Fascists take over the palace and the city.
1951
In May, the District Museum is opened in the Hare Room.
1952
As of January 1952, the head administration of public museums, palaces and gardens takes over the administration of the palace.
1953
The youth hostel is re-established.
1961

Reopening of the revamped Carriage Museum after extensive renovation works
1993
The Administrative District of Flöha takes over the administration of Augustusburg Palace which becomes a Staatlicher Schlossbetrieb ("Public Palace Institution"). The Saxon State Office for Finances participates in the administration.
1995
A more moderate version of the Trompeterstuhl ("Trumpeter's Stool") is re-erected.
1996
Renovation of the whole courtyard including the excavation of the remaining foundation walls of Schellenberg Castle.
2000
The Public Palace Institution is transformed into a GmbH ("limited liability company"). In 2004 it is transformed into a gGmbH ("non-profit limited liability company").
2009
Start of extensive construction works in the Summer House and Lime Tree House.
